Bear Lake Water Level & Lake Access Info 2012

Lake Access & Launching Map

Since the summer of 2011, the lake level has risen to bring the lake to "full" or almost full. During the 10 years previous to 2011, the lake level was well below normal which exposed large areas of sandy beach around the entire lake and allowed for the driving of vehicles onto the bed of the lake for parking and access. The current high lake level has covered up most of those exposed beaches.

Starting since the summer of 2011 and foreseeable future for at least several years, people can access the lake be finding parking areas above the high water mark. With the higher water levels, there are few true "sandy" beaches left where the sand extends above the high water mark of the lake. The North Beach State Park is the largest and arguably the finest beach at Bear Lake with Rendezvous Beach State Park at the South end of the lake also featuring a nice sandy beach with excellent facilities. People will need to arrive before approximately 10:30am on weekends in July and August or on a holiday to be assured a parking spot and to be allowed inside the park. Once the parking area is full, no more vehicles can be allowed inside the park until other vehicles leave.

There are many commercial boat launching facilities available around the lake. Currently the places to launch watercraft at the lake using cement ramps are at the Utah State Marina at the north end of Garden City, Rendezvous Beach at the south end of the lake, First Point Ramp on the East side, and the North Beach State Park. If you would like to enjoy watercraft at Bear Lake but don't want to deal with launching, we offer four on-site rental locations where we have personal watercraft and boats in the water ready to go for your convenience.
